Different artistic influence this method to increase the student’s abilities in practice.Butho: Etymologically the term comes from “BU” (buried underground) and “TOH” (to fly with arms).
This idea brings a different perspective to the West, a point of view “where the feet and hands can come together, but on the inside, not the outside. It goes in favor of gravity while going at the same time against it.
The idea is to break with the “beauty” with the idea of “yourself”.
It´s anti “yourself” and anti “showoff”. This artistic movement created by the Japanese masters Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno in the sixties seeks to break with established patterns and stereotypes, with a poetic form that is characterized as carrying a profound philosophy of life, which puts above all things the essence of man and his need for expression.
Although its roots are in the oldest Japanese folk traditions (Kabuky Theatre – Theatre Noh) Butho Dance recognizes European influences postwar movements, such as Dada and Surrealism, but especially of German Expressionism. The Butho crosses the world reason to enter the magical world of art.
The Butho not adopted as the method of artistic expression cover the body with form. The body is itself form; capture the way, shining as the force of life, its beauty and ugliness, is the basis Butho.
